During the Week

The NRLC Convention relies on its crew of teen volunteers to keep the week moving along, doing everything from heavy lifting that could train you for a career in the moving business to babysitting.

Let's a take a look at Convention week and how things play out:

Monday
On Monday of Convention week the NRLC truck arrives at the hotel, stuffed to the brim with Convention gear and supplies which the volunteers are lucky enough to unpack and organize.

Tuesday
Packets! packets, packets, packets.... Packets is the best/worst day of the week. Depending on how many volunteers there are, the job could last All Afternoon or, it could last three hours. Basically, it involves walking around tables stuffing baggies with all the information the convention attendees will need--that year's convention book, the workshop schedule, where to find good food in town, etc.
All this while dancing to awesome music.

Wednesday
Miscellaneous (you might even get to sleep in!) Boys might be drafted into setting up the A/V equipment and girls might be called on to babysit the children of workshop leaders (there may even be some of that Tuesday night.) More on those duties below...

Thursday-Saturday
It starts!

Volunteers generally assist during the convention with:

Childcare
Traditionally, female volunteers are the staples of Convention Childcare. Being a gathering of hundreds of pro-lifers NRLC figures that some of them will want to bring their children so, they make sure to provide a safe, fun, environment for them to stay while their parents are working.

Audio Recording
The male volunteers are at the mercy of machines as they set up and tinker with the recording equipment throughout the weekend. It's their job to ensure that the workshops are being recorded without a hitch. The boys also help to edit the recordings when necessary.

Saturday Night
While the adults are at a banquet, the teens (both volunteers and Convention attendees) get to have pizza and a dance! The music is loud and the pizza good.
Afterwards is when the real fun starts and we get to put Everything back....
(It actually isn't all that bad because simply everyone helps and, it's a good excuse to stay up late.)

All in all a very full and rewarding week.
